tie-dye drawing

supplies 

  • white (or light-colored) paper
  • crayons
  • watercolors
  • paintbrush

steps 

  1. Pick three bright crayons and make a dot in the middle of your paper with one of them.
  2. Make a swirl from the dot to the edge of the page. 
  3. Using another color, add another swirl from the dot to another edge of the page. 
  4. Using your last color, add your last swirl to a third edge of the page. 
  5. Scribble back and forth on your first line with the same color that you used to draw it. Press hard with your crayons to make the color extra bright. 
  6. Scribble all the way to the end. It looks nicest if you scribble wider at the end.
  7. Scribble on the other two lines as well. 
  8. Paint over your picture with black watercolor.

supplies 8.5x11 sheet of paper (regular paper for school but best if no lines) pencils, pens, and/or crayons scissors steps Fold the paper in half lengthwise (so it is long). Make sure the folded edge is on the bottom. Write your first name big on half of the folded paper. Cut around your name. Make sure to cut through both sides of the folded paper. (If it's helpful, you can draw the line around your name first so you can follow the line when you cut.) Open the paper to see what your alien looks like. supplies  paper pencil, marker, and/or crayon circle stencil about the size of a toilet paper roll (A jar lid would be good too.) steps  Use your circle stencil to draw about 9 circles on your paper. Make each circle into a different type of face. This project came from The Art Room .
